AMAA 2022: King Sunny Ade, Yinka Davies, Psquare To Perform At 18th Edition


Africa Movie Academy Awards, AMAA, have announced headliners for its 18th Edition as legendary Juju singer and master guitarist, King Sunny Ade, and singing duo, P-Square.

The film award organizers have announced musical stars set to headline at its 18th Edition which commenced 25th October at the Jewel Aeida Hall in Lekki, Lagos. The awards ceremony will be hosted by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who has promised a magnificent week to the anticipated film practitioners from Africa and the diaspora.

Futhermore, the award’s gala night confirmed for 30th October, will feature music from the legendary juju singer and master guitarist, King Sunny Ade. Other musical stars for the glamorous event include veteran singer, Yinka Davies, and Nigeria’s hottest music duo, Psquare. Other acts confirmed by AMAA’s show director, Kingsley James include Young Jonn, Ayo Bankole, Zadok, Matty, Veentage Band, DJ Kenchello, and Gerald Eze.

In addition, a record breaking nomination features the South African movie titled ‘Surviving Gaza’; and Ghana’s ‘Borga’ snagged up 14 nominations each out of the 26 enlisted categories, while Tanzania’s official Oscar submissin ‘Tug of War’ followed the lead with 12 nominations, and Uganda’s official Oscar submission ‘Tembele’ along with Nigerian’s ‘Man of God’ received 9 nominations in different categories.

However, other top contenders for the awards include, ‘Jolly Roger’ with nominations in eight categories, ‘Swallow’ with seven nominations from the enlisted categories.
