The Lagos State Government is taking action to stop amateur skincare manufacturers.

The Lagos State Government has declared its intention to control and restrict the operations of unlicensed practitioners in skincare and aesthetic medicine.

Speaking at the 19th Annual General Meeting and Scientific Conference of the Nigerian Association of Dermatologists (NAD), Professor Akin Abayomi, the state commissioner for health, revealed this.

"As everyone knows, aesthetic dermatology is growing rapidly worldwide, and Lagos is not an exception.

The emergence of untrained individuals passing themselves off as specialists in skincare-focused aesthetic dermatology worries us as a government.

These quacks provide a wide range of potentially harmful therapy alternatives.

Therefore, the Health Facility Monitoring and Accreditation Agency, the ministry's regulatory arm, is investigating this rapidly growing phenomenon in Lagos.

To make sure locals aren't exposed to quackery, we want to collaborate with NAD, who are experts in defining these quacks' limitations and making sure the government closely monitors them," he stated.
