Kogi Central senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has pledged to seek justice for Ochanya Elizabeth Ogbanje, a 13-year-old rape victim.
After battling Vesicovagina Fistula, or VVF, as a result of ongoing rape, Ochanya passed away in 2018.
Her passing incited a wave of protests under the hashtag #JusticeForOchanya has Benue State and other parts of the country.

Reports state that Ochanya was sexually assaulted for years by Andrew Ogbuja, her aunt's husband, and his son, Victor Ogbuja.
Ochanya was accused of being molested since she was eight years old by Andrew Ogbuja, a lecturer at the Benue State Polytechnic in Ugbokolo, and his son Victor.
Additionally, they were charged with having anal and vaginal sex with the young girl until she gained Vesicovagina Fistula, or VVF.
On November 2, 2018, the victim was laid to rest in tears at Ogene-Amejo Village in Benue State's Okpokwu Local Government.

Senator Natasha responded by posting a message on her social media page Thursday morning, stating that she had discovered the suspects had been freed.

"I believed the offenders were incarcerated. Unfortunately, they were acquitted and released.
"The late Ochanya Ogbanje's family ought to send me a petition:

"I stand for Justice for Ochanya for our children."
