The decision was made in response to a letter from President Bola Tinubu asking for a speedy screening of all nominated Service chiefs, which Senate President Godswill Akpabio read during plenary.

The rescheduling was required, according to Akpabio, so that the recently nominated military leaders could begin their responsibilities as soon as possible.
