Regina Daniels Says Her Mother ‘Held Her Down’ in Ned Nwoko’s House for Seven Years

Popular Nollywood actress, Regina Daniels, has revealed that her mother, Rita Daniels, stood by her and “held her down” throughout her seven-year marriage to billionaire businessman and lawmaker, Senator Ned Nwoko.

The actress made the shocking revelation in a lengthy video shared on her Instagram page on Wednesday morning, where she opened up about the struggles and regrets surrounding her marriage.

Contrary to widespread speculation that she was forced into the marriage at a young age, Regina clarified that her family — including her mother — initially opposed her relationship with the 64-year-old senator.

“For seven years my mum held me down. She tried, but I’m the one that has a coconut head. I’m ashamed to say I fell in love, but I actually did, and it’s crazy. Everyone said no,” she admitted.

The mother of two also debunked claims that her marriage was motivated by greed or financial gain, stressing that her family was not broke at the time.

“You all should stop saying that I married out of greed. We were not broke. What amount of money can a man give to a mother to get her child who practically provides everything in the house? I was her only source of livelihood,” she stated.

Regina, who recently accused her husband of domestic violence, disclosed that she once attempted to take her own life due to emotional pressure and the resistance she faced when she insisted on marrying Ned Nwoko.

“My mother, my brother, and everybody warned me. I drove out at night one day trying to kill myself if I didn’t marry Ned,” she revealed emotionally.

The actress, however, pleaded with Nigerians to stop insulting her mother, describing her as the strongest person in her life who had endured public scrutiny for years.
