Victor Osimhen Reveals Why He Always Visits Olusosun Whenever He’s in Nigeria

Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen has opened up about his deep emotional connection to Olusosun, a community in Lagos State, Nigeria, where he grew up.

The Super Eagles forward revealed that Olusosun played a major role in shaping his character and values, adding that he always visits the area whenever he returns to Nigeria to express gratitude to the people who were part of his journey.

Speaking after Galatasaray’s 3-0 UEFA Champions League victory over Ajax on Wednesday  where he scored a hat-trick  the 26-year-old football star shared touching details about his humble beginnings.

“I came from a very poor background. I’m the lastborn of seven. I lost my mum at a very young age, and my father passed on in 2020,” Osimhen told UEFA’s official website.

“Before I rose to fame, my childhood was really tough because, as a young lad, I had to fend for myself and also help my siblings raise money to support our father after our mother’s death.”

Osimhen described Olusosun as an “amazing place” that taught him invaluable life lessons despite the hardships he faced growing up there.

“Olusosun shaped me to become the kind of person I am today. It may not have given me much materially, but it taught me lessons that have guided me through life’s journey.

So, for me, it’s really an amazing place; that’s why anytime I’m in Nigeria, I always go there to show gratitude and to inspire the young kids  to let them know that if I could make it out of this place, they can too.”

Osimhen’s inspiring story continues to resonate with fans worldwide, serving as a reminder of perseverance, humility, and hope against all odds.
