Nigerian music superstars Yemi Alade and Tiwa Savage have officially reconciled after a seven-year rift that once stirred major tension in the entertainment industry.
Their feud began on social media when Yemi Alade posted a cryptic message criticizing female entertainers for enhancing their buttocks in photos to “deceive their fans.” The post came just hours after Tiwa Savage shared pictures flaunting her curves, which many interpreted as a direct jab.
Tiwa responded sharply, warning Yemi:
“Don’t start a war you can’t finish.”
This exchange fueled widespread speculation and solidified the perception of rivalry between the two Afrobeats queens.
Reconciliation at Entertainment Week Africa
The long-standing tension came to an emotional end on Thursday in Lagos during The Price of Being Her panel, part of the Entertainment Week Africa (EW Africa) event.
In a viral video, Yemi Alade openly addressed Tiwa Savage with heartfelt words:
“I honestly want you to know that those moments you get rugged and do what you truly want to do, you are standing up for many females. Just continue being you. You are literally walking in strength.”
Tiwa Savage, visibly moved by the tribute, became emotional and later appeared in another video sharing a warm hug with Yemi while singing along marking a powerful moment of unity.
Fans and industry stakeholders have praised the reconciliation as a positive step for female representation and collaboration in the Nigerian music scene. Many hope this renewed relationship will pave the way for future joint projects and stronger solidarity among female artistes.
