Mr P Reveals Poverty as His Greatest Fear, Shares Childhood Struggles

Famous Nigerian singer and former Psquare member, Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P, has revealed that his greatest fear in life is poverty, not d3ath.

Speaking during a recent episode of the Nancy Isime Show, the award-winning artiste said he is not afraid of dying but is deeply afraid of ever returning to a life of hardship and lack.

“I am not afraid of death. The only thing I am afraid of in this life is poverty, of being broke,” he said.

Mr P went on to recount a painful childhood experience that shaped his outlook on life. He revealed that his family once lived in a single-room apartment which was suddenly demolished after the landlord sold the property.

According to him, the entire family  his parents, six boys, and two girls  lived together in the cramped space, which was divided with a curtain for privacy.

“I have tasted poverty before. We were living in a boys’ quarter  me, my mum, my dad, all of us. The whole family, six boys and two girls living in a one-bedroom apartment. They had to divide the room with a curtain,” he said.

Mr P further revealed that despite pleading with the landlord for more time to relocate, a bulldozer stormed the compound and began demolishing the house while they were still inside.

“The landlord had sold the compound. We were trying to plead to get some time to plan our relocation and then a bulldozer came and started demolishing the house while we were still in the building,” he added.

The emotional revelation has since sparked reactions online, with many fans praising the singer’s resilience, determination, and rise from hardship to stardom.
