Seun Kuti Reacts to Korra Obidi’s Twerking Tribute at Fela’s Grave

Nigerian musician Seun Kuti, the youngest son of the late Afrobeat pioneer Fela Anikulapo Kuti, has reacted to Korra Obidi’s viral twerking tribute at his father’s graveside.

Korra, who recently visited Nigeria, stopped by Fela’s resting place over the weekend and performed a twerk as a tribute. Sharing the video on Instagram, the dancer wrote:

“I gave baba an offering. We visited the grave site of Anikulapo Kuti today, and we all know that one thing Fela loved was a woman with gyrating hips. So I decided to twerk for baba.”

Responding to Korra’s gesture, Seun Kuti expressed appreciation, saying the act aligned with Fela’s vibrant energy and well-known admiration for expressive dance.

“You guys know what baba likes but you will never give him what he wants. E go better for you, my sister,” he said.

The video has since triggered mixed reactions across social media. While some fans believe the tribute reflected Fela’s free-spirited lifestyle, others criticised it as disrespectful and inappropriate for a gravesite.
