Spotify Plans Audiobook Expansion to Nigeria and Over 180 Markets

Spotify plans to expand audiobook access to more than 180 markets by the end of 2026, with Nigeria included in its announced market list.
The company outlined the rollout on 7 October 2026 at the Frankfurt Book Fair. It said listeners in newly supported markets would gain access to a catalogue of more than 350,000 titles across over 120 languages.
What this means for African listeners
Spotify identifies Audiobooks+ as the main access route across African markets. Other options in the wider rollout include audiobook hours within eligible Premium plans and individual book purchases.
Availability and prices differ by market. The announcement describes an expansion running through the end of 2026; it does not establish that every option is already available to every Nigerian account.
For listeners, the rollout could add more spoken-word entertainment alongside music and podcasts. Check the options shown in your Spotify account as the expansion progresses.
