Abigail Eguta, 24, a pregnant lady accused of brutalizing her nephew, age 7, for eating fish and not knowing the English alphabet, was apprehended in Anambra State.
This was disclosed in a Facebook post issued by the Ministry of Women and Social Welfare in Anambra State.
On Tuesday, May 16, 2023, following Sunday, the victim, was taken to the office of the state commissioner for women's and social welfare, Ify Obinabo, by concerned neighbors, the woman was detained.
According to rumors, Sunday is the biological son of Eguta's sister, who she only recently moved in with. The youngster, whose body is covered with scars from alleged past injuries perpetrated on him by his guardian, had been out of school for a considerable amount of time.
Eguta alleged that she had hit the youngster for consuming the fish she had purchased for Sunday dinner. She also admitted to assaulting him on Monday because she believed he had mispronounced the English alphabet, adding that this was the primary cause of his injuries.
"I apologize deeply. I didn't mean to blind him, I didn't mean to beat him in the eyes, but I did. Please forgive me; it was the devil's doing", she pleaded.
