Removal of Subsidies: Adamawa Lawmaker chooses bicycle to "identify with the masses"

Due to the exorbitant expense of fuel, Hon. Haruna Jilantikiri, Chief Whip of the Adamawa State House of Assembly, chose an electric bicycle instead of a car.

On June 1, the state assemblyman who represents the Madagali constituency was seen riding his electric bicycle to work.

The legislator admitted to SaharaReporters that the rise in gas prices led him to choose an electric bicycle over his personal vehicle to get around on a daily basis.

“The product is currently being sold at the sum of N550 to N700 per litre at filling stations including that of the government, I do not think that Nigerians can afford it.

We are supposed to pack our cars & use bicycles to identify with the electorate because I don't think they can afford to drive cars or ride motorcycles any longer," Jilantikiri said.
