A 13-year-old girl in Imo was saved after her guardian allegedly caused damage to her eye.

In Owerri, Imo State, a 13-year-old girl named Favour Nuhu was saved after her guardian injured her right eye.

Last Friday, journalist and Stand For Humanity Foundation founder Chidiebube Okeoma rescued the young child.

Favour's medical checks since her rescue have shown that surgery is the only method to restore her sight in the damaged eye, according to Okeoma.

Favour, from Kaduna State, told investigating police officers at the State Criminal Investigation Department in Owerri that she was hurt by a laptop cord that belonged to her 30-year-old guardian.

The founder of the organization claims that his foundation received a tip about the situation from several concerned neighbors who live in the same neighborhood as the girl.

He clarified that when the Favour shared her experience with the worried residents, she revealed to them that her mistress was dehumanizing her and had even hurt one of her eyes. But in order to prevent her from beating her any more, she pleaded with her interviewers not to inform her, madam.

''After receiving the tip, we promptly reported the incident at the State Police Command headquarters in Owerri. After being given police officers, we went to Green Health Estate in Ohii, Owerri, where the child lives with her guardian. However, when we got there, we were informed that the mother and the abused kid had already fled," Okeoma added.

"We saw the woman and the battered girl when we returned to the police command headquarters. The woman most likely learned about it via our investigation."

Favour confirmed to police that the injuries was caused by her guardian.

The guardian admitted to flogging the youngster during a police questioning, but he denied that the flogging was the reason for the injury to the girl's right eye. The cops ordered the minor to be transported to the hospital.

According to Okeoma, the Foundation's legal department has been informed and is awaiting the outcome of the police inquiry.

The scope of the damage was enormous, according to the optometrists' medical assessments. They were unable to handle the young girl's suffering and were told that surgery was the only way to repair the eye damage," he stated.

"Normally, the pressure on the damaged eye shouldn't be higher than 25%, but the optometrists revealed that it is currently 31%. They claimed that the damaged eye, which had developed cataracts, had a large boil on it.

The damage to her right eye, according to the optometrists, could only be repaired surgically.
