After obtaining a N15 million ransom, suspected abductors have killed Chief Augustine Ezedinachi (Ogbuefi Ozo Nnanyelugo), a traditional title holder and community leader of the Nimo village in the Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State.
Ezedinachi, also called High Chief Gbafankiti na Nimo, was a member of the esteemed Nimo Royal Cabinet and a former Chevron contractor.

After leaving active duty, the deceased made the decision to move to the hamlet and pursue a career in farming and raising livestock.
On June 19, 2025, masked gunmen kidnapped Ezesinachi from his property behind St. Michael's Secondary School in Nimo.
Witnesses said that the kidnappers broke into the farm and took the victim at gunpoint to an unidentified location.
Later, the kidnappers used the victim's phone to call the family and demand an undisclosed payment.
The kidnappers killed him and left his body on the same farmland even after reportedly paying a ransom of N15 million.
He was found dead at the site, with significant cuts to his head with a machete.
