Following their public backlash, US President Donald Trump provided an update on his relationship with Elon Musk.

Trump said he hasn't spoken to the richest man in the world much since leaving the administration earlier this month and attempted to blow up Trump's historic bill as he was leaving.

When asked about their relationship on Fox's Sunday Morning Futures, Trump said tactfully, "I haven't spoken to him much, but I think Elon is a wonderful guy."

Trump made these comments just one day after Musk rekindled the conflict on Saturday by once more voicing his opinions about Trump's $2.8 trillion spending plan.

Musk tweeted, "The latest Senate draft bill will cause immense strategic harm to our country and destroy millions of jobs in America." "Destructive and completely insane."

However, Trump chose to give his old ally a hushed round of applause on Sunday rather than respond to the most recent remarks.

Trump said that he was a clever man. I'm confident that he will always perform well. In fact, he ran for office with me. Ultimately, he became agitated, which was inappropriate.

After Musk's collaboration with DOGE dried up, he used X to launch an extraordinary attack on Trump and his bill.

The millionaire creator of SpaceX claimed that Trump was "in the Epstein files" and that without him, Trump would not have been able to win the 2024 presidential election.

Trump, however, has frequently implied that Musk was more displeased with his choice to revoke an electric vehicle requirement from the Biden administration that would have promoted a surge in Tesla sales.

Regarding Musk, Trump stated on Sunday that "the EV mandate is a tough thing for him." I'm not in favor of requiring everyone to drive an electric vehicle.

"I ran on a platform of choice: hybrid and gasoline." Although I think electric cars are great, not everyone wants them.

Musk had used his Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to cut federal programs at the beginning of the year, but the budget hikes in Trump's bill erased the $150 billion he claimed to have saved.

"This is an unfortunate episode from Elon, who is unhappy with the One Big Beautiful Bill because it does not include the policies he wanted," stated Karoline Leavitt, the White House press secretary at the time.
