Reno Omokri, a social analyst and former presidential adviser, has asserted that Okpu-Agwu, a popular Igbo headgear, is not Nigerian.

 

Speaking on a popular podcast, Omokri claimed that Okpu-Agu is a European winter cap rather than an Igbo one.

He Said ''He isn't wearing anything that's from Nigeria. Nothing! That (indicating his headgear) is not from Nigeria. The colonialists were wearing a European winter hat like that. That's the reality. It's a winter hat. It's not Igbo in origin.''

Furthermore, according to Reno, the white top worn by the male anchor—known locally as Etibo—was not Nigerian.

“” It's a uniform for sailors. It was sold for eight bows, which is an ancient kind of currency, which is why it is named Etibo. They dubbed it Etibo since they couldn't pronounce bows. It is not native to Nigeria.

And they call all of these wraps George. They are called George because the colonial authority gave them George during King George's coronation, and that's when the Nigerian ladies began wearing it. The more affordable one arrives from India after it arrives from Holland. They merely give the impression that it is Nigerian. Nigeria does not produce it.
