"After the recovery, the Nigeria Police Force initiated civil forfeiture proceedings at the Federal High Court, Abuja, through INTERPOL NCB Abuja," the statement says.
"The Court granted a final forfeiture order in favor of the Government of the Netherlands through the vehicles' insurance company after the proper procedural procedures were completed, allowing for their legitimate repatriation.
The cross-border recovery and restitution effort was successfully completed today, October 20, 2025, when the Nigeria Police Force INTERPOL team formally turned over the recovered vehicles to representatives of the insurance company and the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Nigeria.
