Basketmouth Reacts to VeryDarkMan and Mr Jollof’s Fight on Airplane: “How Did We Get Here?”

 

Popular Nigerian comedian Basketmouth has weighed in on the viral clash between social media critic VeryDarkMan (VDM) and entertainer Mr Jollof, describing the incident as “embarrassing.”

According to reports by 9javibez, both men were detained by the Delta State Police Command on Monday, November 17, 2025, after engaging in a physical fight onboard a United Nigerian Airlines flight.

Reacting in a video shared on his Instagram page, Basketmouth expressed shock and disappointment over the public altercation, especially given the confined space of an aircraft.

He said:

“Like everybody else, I just saw the video of Mr Jollof and VDM fighting in a public space  not just any public place, but inside a plane. As plane tight reach, these grown men still find space dey fight. And I asked myself, how did we get here?”

Referencing his long-standing feud with fellow comedian AY Makun, Basketmouth added:

“Me and AY get issues for a long time, but it never got to the point that me and him go start to exchange punches. How embarrassing is this? Why can’t we just live in love and peace?”

The incident has continued to trend online, with many Nigerians expressing concern over rising public confrontations among celebrities.

9javibez earlier reported that the conflict between the two entertainers escalated after VeryDarkMan accused Mr Jollof’s wife of engaging in adultery with politicians and Yahoo boys to help secure a political appointment for her husband in Delta State.

In response, Mr Jollof and his wife filed a ₦500 million defamation lawsuit against VeryDarkMan.
