Cinematographer Jude Eze Reacts After Regina Daniels Begs Nigerians to Help Free Her Brother

A Nigerian cinematographer, Jude Eze, has reacted to Nollywood actress Regina Daniels’ recent plea for help from Nigerians following the arrest of her brother, Sammy West.

Regina and her family had earlier launched a petition urging Nigerians to sign and support their campaign for Sammy’s release. The young man was reportedly detained due to issues linked to Regina’s estranged husband, Senator Ned Nwoko.

However, Jude Eze took to social media to criticize Regina’s call for public sympathy, reminding her of a time when she allegedly mocked Nigerians protesting against police brutality during the 2020 End SARS movement.

According to Jude, the actress showed indifference at a time when many young Nigerians were risking their lives to demand justice and good governance.

He backed his statement with a screenshot of a post Regina Daniels made on October 20, 2020, the same day peaceful protesters were shot at the Lekki Toll Gate.

In a lengthy caption, Jude wrote:

“One thing I like about the dysfunction of Nigeria is that it doesn’t discriminate. It comes for everybody eventually, one way or the other, no matter who you are.”

He continued:

“October 2020, when we were protesting against police brutality and bad governance, Regina Daniels set up her tripod, camera, and ring light — not to lend her voice to the struggle of young Nigerians like herself, but to reprimand us for protesting like we were children.

She mocked us because she couldn’t relate to our struggles. She felt she was part of the elites, that the problems of ordinary Nigerians would never be her problem — because she was literally in bed with the opps (pun intended).”

Eze further stated that Regina Daniels is now experiencing the same injustice ordinary Nigerians face daily, adding that it is “poetic justice.”

“Today, the same Regina is on the internet crying for help from the same Nigerians she mocked for the same police brutality we were protesting against.

Today, the dysfunction of the Nigerian system has caught up with her and she finally feels what we feel. But who will protest with her now? Poetic justice, innit?”

Regina Daniels is yet to respond publicly to Jude Eze’s remarks, though the controversy has since sparked mixed reactions across social media.
