Comedian Destalker Reveals He Once Tried Internet Fraud Before Finding Success in Comedy

Popular Nigerian comedian, Destalker, has opened up about a dark phase in his early life, revealing that he once tried his hands at internet fraud (Yahoo Yahoo) before venturing fully into comedy.

Speaking during a recent episode of the In-house Gist Podcast, the comedian disclosed that he was introduced to online fraud by a close friend who has now become a Christian cleric.

Destalker explained that his attempt at cybercrime failed because of his kindhearted nature, which made it difficult for him to defraud people.

“Before I left Enugu, I tried internet fraud with one of my friends who is now a pastor, Rev. Nelson Umeh. But I wasn’t successful at it. Then we would book night sessions at a cyber café for ₦250. I couldn’t afford it, so my friend always paid for me,” he said.

“While he was scouting for victims online to scam, I was busy chatting with my family, friends, and old schoolmates from Ughelli on Facebook. After that, I would fall asleep. There’s no need for overspending when you’re on the wrong lane.”

According to Destalker, his failure at internet fraud was a sign that the act was not part of his destiny.

“It wasn’t my calling. I can’t defraud anyone because I am kindhearted. Everything I went through made me stronger and more confident that no one can stop me from achieving my goals,” he added.

The comedian also recalled facing rejection in the industry, as some of his colleagues once tried to block his opportunities to perform at shows.

“Some comedians told me that without them, I wouldn’t perform at certain events. I told them I would still blow even without performing there  and I did. Some of those shows no longer exist, and some of those comedians are no longer relevant,” Destalker said.

His story has since sparked reactions online, with many praising him for his honesty and perseverance in pursuing his dreams despite early struggles.
