A Florida man has been arrested for allegedly opening fire on a group of people outside a bar following a bizarre argument over how many eggs a chicken can lay.
Argument Over Chickens Turns Violent
According to Port Saint Lucie police, 44-year-old Peter Riera called 911 on November 4, claiming he had been robbed and was being chased by two men and a woman outside Harper’s Pub.
However, when officers arrived, the trio involved Brandon Pace, 23; Kayla Damiana, 26; and Tyler McHargue, 23 told police they had just met Riera that evening and were chatting casually after being introduced to him as “Farmer Pete.”
The group reportedly began discussing chickens and egg-laying, but the conversation abruptly escalated when Riera grew paranoid, accusing them of planning to “jump” him. Witnesses told police that Riera suddenly claimed they were trying to “con” him before pulling out a gun.
Riera then allegedly fired four shots at the fleeing individuals. No one was struck, police confirmed.
Arrests and Charges
Body camera footage obtained by CBS 12 showed Riera wearing jean overalls and notably without shoes being arrested outside the pub.
