Islamic Groups Protest in Kano Over Donald Trump’s Threat to Intervene in Nigeria’s Security Crisis

Large groups of Islamic organizations in Kano State have taken to the streets in protest against recent remarks by United States President Donald Trump concerning Nigeria’s security challenges.

The protesters, who gathered on Saturday, expressed strong opposition to Trump’s statement alleging a “Christian genocide” in Nigeria and his warning of possible U.S. military intervention if the Nigerian government fails to act.

During the peaceful demonstration, participants carried placards with bold messages such as “We condemn Trump’s threat to attack Nigeria,” “There is no Christian genocide in Nigeria,” and “America wants to control our resources.”

Trump had recently placed Nigeria on the list of Countries of Particular Concern over alleged persecution of Christians. His comments have since sparked widespread reactions across the country.

However, the Nigerian government has firmly rejected the claims, insisting that reports of Christian-targeted killings are false and politically motivated. Officials maintained that the nation’s security challenges affect citizens of all faiths and ethnic backgrounds equally.

The protests in Kano highlight growing tensions between Nigeria and the United States over the international portrayal of Nigeria’s internal security issues, especially regarding religion and ethnic conflicts.
