Davido, Burna Boy, Ayra Starr, and Omah Lay Shine as Nigerian Stars Bag 2026 Grammy Nominations

 


A new wave of excitement has swept through the Nigerian music scene as several Afrobeat superstars have earned nominations for the 2026 Grammy Awards.

The Grammy shortlist, released on Friday evening, once again places Nigerian talent at the forefront of global music recognition, underscoring the country’s growing influence in the international entertainment industry.

Among the nominees, Davido and Omah Lay received a nod in the Best African Music Performance category for their chart-topping collaboration “With You.” The soulful hit has been a fan favorite across streaming platforms, blending Afrobeat and contemporary pop influences.

Also nominated in the same category is Burna Boy with his hit track “Love.” The self-proclaimed African Giant, who already boasts a Grammy win, continues to cement his dominance in the global music scene.

Ayra Starr and Wizkid also made the prestigious list for their song “Gimme Dat,” a smooth fusion of Afrobeats and R&B that has resonated with audiences worldwide. South Africa’s Tyla joins the lineup with “PUSH 2 START,” alongside Eddy Kenzo and Mehran Matin for “Hope & Love.”

Beyond that, Burna Boy secured yet another major nomination in the Best Global Music Album category for his critically acclaimed project “No Sign of Weakness.”

He will be competing alongside Youssou N’Dour (“Eclairer le monde: Light the World”), Caetano Veloso and Maria Bethânia (“Caetano e Bethânia Ao Vivo”), Anoushka Shankar featuring Alam Khan & Sarathy Korwar (“Chapter III: We Return To Light”), Siddhant Bhatia (“Sounds Of Kumbha”), and Shakti (“Mind Explosion (50th Anniversary Tour Live)”).
