Social media critic Martins Otse, popularly known as Verydarkman (VDM), and comedian Freedom Atsepoyi, aka Mr Jollof, may be facing sanctions from the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) after a viral video showed the duo exchanging blows onboard a flight.
The heated confrontation, which surfaced online on Monday morning, has sparked widespread public concern and triggered an immediate response from aviation authorities.
NCAA Demands Full Details of Incident
Following the circulation of the in-flight fight video, NCAA’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Michael Achimugu, took to X (formerly Twitter) to request information that would aid official investigations.
Quoting one of the viral clips, Achimugu wrote:
“If you are kind enough to provide the name of the airline in whose aircraft this incident occurred, and the date, it would help investigations.”
Background of the Feud
Verydarkman and Mr Jollof have been locked in a long-running online conflict, which escalated after VDM accused the comedian’s wife of being involved with Yahoo boys. Their exchanges have often turned hostile on social media.
Possible Penalties Ahead
If confirmed to have engaged in unruly behaviour onboard a commercial aircraft, both men could face serious penalties under Nigeria’s civil aviation regulations. Potential sanctions include:
Hefty fines
Flight bans
Blacklisting for violent passenger conduct
The NCAA is expected to release more details as investigations progress.
