Delta North Senator, Ned Nwoko, has revealed that his estranged wife, Regina Daniels, told him she was 21 years old when they first met.
According to the lawmaker, Regina provided him with documents, including her Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) voter’s card, as proof of her age.
The revelation comes amid the ongoing marital crisis between the couple, which has been marred by allegations of domestic violence and drug use.
Regina had recently accused Nwoko of introducing her to hard drugs to make her “wild,” while Nwoko, on his part, alleged that the actress was the one involved in substance abuse and should be sent to rehabilitation.
Addressing the controversy over claims that he married Regina when she was 17, Nwoko took to X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday to set the record straight.
He wrote:
“It has come to my attention that false claims are being circulated by Regina, suggesting that I married her when she was 17 years old. These claims are entirely untrue and misleading.
“For clarity, during my first meeting with Regina, I asked her age, and she told me she was 21 years old.
“I further asked if she had any document to support this, and she presented her INEC voter’s card, which clearly shows that she was born on October 10th, 1998.
“I informed her that I would keep this document in my possession, and I have done so since that day.
“I have also seen a BBC interview her mother granted after our marriage regarding her age.”
The once-celebrated marriage between Nwoko and the Nollywood star has continued to dominate social media discussions as both parties exchange accusations online.
