Fireboy DML Opens Up on Chaotic Dating Life, Says Lagos Dating Scene Inspired Ashawo

Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Fireboy DML has opened up about his personal life, describing his dating experience as “chaotic.”

In a recent interview on the Reprezent Podcast, the award-winning singer, whose real name is Adedamola Adefolahan, revealed that the messy nature of the Lagos dating scene inspired his hit song, “Ashawo.”

“In my song Ashawo, I was trying to paint a picture of what the dating scene is like in Lagos where I live. It’s a mess,” Fireboy said.

The Peru crooner went on to describe his own dating life as chaotic but admitted that he finds balance in relationships despite the turbulence.

“It is chaotic. But I thrive with girls. When I’m under pressure, I usually find balance in girls,” he added.

Fireboy DML, signed to YBNL Nation and Empire Music, has previously spoken about using heartbreak and emotional pain as inspiration for his songwriting. He once stated that he was even looking forward to experiencing a heartbreak so he could create more genuine and soulful music.

Although the Vibration and Champion hitmaker continues to dominate the Afrobeats scene with chart-topping hits, Fireboy has yet to publicly confirm being in any romantic relationship.
