The brother of popular Nollywood actress Regina Daniels, Sammy West, has reportedly been remanded in Keffi Prison by a Dutse Magistrate Court, sparking widespread concern and outrage on social media.
According to reports, Sammy was remanded on Thursday without access to a legal representative, following what family members described as a controversial and abrupt court proceeding.
His elder brother, known on Instagram as @sweezzy1, broke the news in a post shared via his Instagram story, calling on the public to demand answers regarding Sammy’s alleged offense.
“He is currently at Keffi Prison! Dutse Magistrate has suddenly disappeared. Ned, you can pay everybody but you can’t pay for integrity!” he wrote.
Sweezzy alleged that Sammy was denied his right to contact his lawyer before being remanded.
“Sammy said, ‘My lawyers are on their way. I was not given an opportunity to call anyone!’ The judge said remand him till they can file for his bail. Bail has been filed, magistrate has disappeared — no one available to sign. You sha want make he test the prison? Ned, the most powerful man in the universe, you still no fit big pass God!” he lamented.
He also shared a video clip showing Sammy saying:
“They didn’t allow me to call my lawyer. They didn’t allow my family to see me since I was arrested on Monday. Nobody knows where I was taken to.”
Arrest Linked to Regina Daniels’ Ongoing Rift With Ned Nwoko
Reports indicate that Sammy West was arrested in Lagos on Monday and allegedly flown to Abuja on a private jet linked to Senator Ned Nwoko, Regina Daniels’ estranged husband.
Reacting to her brother’s detention, Regina Daniels took to her Instagram page to accuse Ned of using her siblings’ arrests as a means to force her into rehabilitation.
According to Regina, Ned’s actions are part of a larger attempt to intimidate her following her recent public accusations of domestic abuse against him.
The actress, who is currently entangled in a messy breakup with the billionaire senator, revealed that her sister was also detained during the incident.
Background: Allegations and Counterclaims
Senator Ned Nwoko had earlier accused Regina Daniels of substance abuse and claimed that she was avoiding rehabilitation — an allegation the actress has strongly denied.
The unfolding drama between the couple has attracted significant public attention, with fans and human rights advocates calling for transparency and due process in the arrest and detention of Regina’s siblings.
As of press time, neither Ned Nwoko nor the Nigerian Police had issued an official statement on why Sammy West was remanded or what charges were filed against him.
