Senator Natasha Akpoti Alleges Passport Seizure, Accuses Akpabio of Blocking Her Travel Plans

Kogi Central Senator Natasha Akpoti claims her foreign passport was withheld on the orders of Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, has alleged that her foreign passport was denied, preventing her from traveling abroad.

In a live Facebook broadcast on Tuesday morning, the lawmaker expressed frustration, saying she has not violated any law that would justify the confiscation of her travel document.

“After celebrating my second year, I decided to take a week off, and my passport is being withheld again,” she said. “The same thing happened the last time.”

Senator Akpoti emphasized that there is no court order restricting her movement or instructing any agency to seize her passport.

According to her, an officer at the immigration office informed her that the order came from Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

“The officer in charge told us that the Senate President gave them the order to deny my passport and stop me from traveling,” she alleged.

As of the time of filing this report, Senate President Akpabio has not responded to the allegations.
