Stampede Claims Life of 20-Year-Old Woman at Concert in Nairobi

A tragic stampede has claimed the life of a 20-year-old woman, Karen Lojore, during a concert by a popular Nigerian musician in Nairobi, Kenya.

The incident occurred on Saturday, December 20, at the Nyayo National Stadium, where overcrowding reportedly led to a stampede among concertgoers.

Eyewitness accounts revealed that on-site paramedics immediately carried out emergency resuscitation efforts before rushing the victim to Nairobi West Hospital. She was later pronounced dead at the medical facility.

Confirming the incident, the concert organiser, Tukutane Entertainment, expressed deep sorrow in a statement shared on its official Instagram page.

“We are deeply saddened to confirm that a tragic incident occurred during our December 20th concert, resulting in the loss of life,” the statement read.

“Our hearts are with the family, friends, and loved ones affected by this devastating loss. We are cooperating fully with emergency services and the appropriate authorities as they work to understand what happened.”

This is not the first time a fatal stampede has been linked to a concert by the same artist. DAILY POST recalls that in December 2022, a 33-year-old Nigerian mother of two, Rebecca Ikumelo, lost her life at a concert held at the Brixton O2 Academy in London after sustaining severe injuries during a crowd surge.

Authorities are expected to continue investigations into the Nairobi incident, with renewed calls for improved crowd control and safety measures at large-scale entertainment events.
