Nollywood actress Regina Daniels has threatened to take legal action against her estranged husband, Senator Ned Nwoko, and others over allegations that she takes hard drugs.
The actress made the threat in a video shared on her Instagram page on Wednesday, where she also presented laboratory test results from a hospital in California.
According to the test results displayed, Regina tested negative for hard drugs, with the report indicating only the presence of ecstasy, commonly known as molly.
Addressing the controversy, the actress said she was compelled to speak out to protect her reputation and family.
“I don’t believe that I will sit in front of this camera again trying to clear up an accusation that was sent to destroy me,” she said. “It’s a new year, and with it came a moment of clarity. I realised that there are certain narratives I can no longer allow linger over my name as a public figure.”
Regina stated that the allegations were an attempt to damage her brand, adding that she took the drug test not just to defend herself, but to reassure those who support her.
“Taking this test is not about clearing my name, it is about giving a strong and confident voice to those who believe in me,” she said. “Above all, it is to give my children something priceless pride so that when they grow up, they will know that their mother was never a drug addict.”
She further denied using hard drugs and warned that legal action would follow.
“I was never on any hard drugs or any nonsense fabricated online. I will sue — I will definitely sue at the appropriate time. Honestly speaking, the only drug I was associated with was ecstasy. Believe it or not, there’s a reason for that,” she added.
The clarification comes nearly three months after Senator Ned Nwoko publicly accused the actress of drug use amid their ongoing marital dispute.
