A herbalist identified as Samson Ogundele, has been arrested by men of the Ogun state police command. He was arrested for allegedly having a forceful carnal knowledge of a young girl who came to his house for consultation.
He was arrested following a report lodged by the victim at Oja Odan Divisional Headquaters. The victim in question is a hairdressing apprentice. The herbalist came into the picture because a thousand naira #1000 was missing in the shop and they wanted to know who stole the money amongst the nine apprentice.
She added that when they got to the herbalist, he charged them 700 naira and was calling each of them to a room one after the other. The first two entered and came out and when it was her turn, he tried to rape her.
The DPO Oja odan division, CSP Gabriel Ikechukwu, detailed his detectives to go after the suspect and he was arrested. It was while interrogating him that one of the girls who is 17-years-old confessed that the herbalist had already had carnal knowledge of her when she met him at the consulting room. She stated further that the herbalist threatened that she will die if she told anybody about the incident.
The victim was immediately taken to General Hospital Oja Odan where it was confirmed that the girl has been defiled. Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the state police command, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the herbalist himself has confessed to the commission of the crime.
