Ahead of the state's gubernatorial election in November, the Independent National Electoral Commission, or INEC, has advised voters in Anambra State to avoid vote buying and other forms of inducement.
The Commission warned voters against exchanging their ballots for cash or tangible goods in a post on its official X handle on Thursday, emphasizing that such actions compromise electoral integrity and impede significant progress.
"Dismiss the stomach's infrastructure. Demand actual progress. Reiterating its commitment to guaranteeing a free, fair, and credible poll, INEC added, "Say NO to vote buying."

The Commission also urged candidates and political parties to run issue-based campaigns that emphasize programs and policies that will enhance the welfare of the populace rather than taking advantage of voters' financial circumstances in order to win elections.
