Comrade Idris Adedayo Adeniran, the Chairman of the judicial Staff Union of Nigeria, or JUSUN, Osun State Chapter, has reaffirmed that the state's judicial employees will not halt their strike until all outstanding promotion concerns have been resolved and approved.
Speaking at an emergency JUSUN Congress in Osogbo on Thursday, Adeniran clarified that the strike was prompted by the labor movement's support and the union members' resolve to defend their rights.
He stated that the purpose of the meeting was to remind participants of the rationale behind the strike and to reaffirm their shared dedication to the fight.

"The JUSUN National Secretariat directed the strike, so it hasn't been called off," he said. We stay on strike until they give us instructions to do differently.
Adeniran insisted that a formal agreement be reached before any negotiations could begin, stating that the union's complaints extend beyond the scheduled meeting with the Judicial Service Commission, or JSC.
The JSC meeting is not the end of our strike. Any meeting of the Judiciary Service Commission cannot occur unless we have an agreement.

Due to the ongoing strike, the JUSUN chairman told members that Marwan Adamu, the union's national president, has consented to travel to Osun State in support of the workers.
He emphasized that without the participation of members and the engagement of JUSUN's national leadership, he could not negotiate alone.
"Unless our members are supported and the JUSUN national leadership is fully involved, I cannot negotiate alone," he said.

Before the walkout was put on hold, Adeniran promised the workers that the long-awaited promotion letters for JUSUN members would be sent out.
Additionally, he demanded that before the industrial action could be canceled, the previously canceled 2023 promotion exercise had to be approved.
"A major condition for ending this strike is the ratification of the 2023 promotion," he said firmly.

The chairman promised ongoing openness and solidarity in their fight for justice, pledging that members' faith in the union leadership would not be violated.
Comrade Christopher Arapasopo, the Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, or NLC, in Osun State, emphasized the legitimacy of the strike and gave judiciary workers his word that they would not be intimidated in any way.
He bemoaned the state of affairs in the nation, claiming that it had come to a stage when only excruciating methods, like strikes, could satisfy justifiable demands.

It is regrettable that we must now put up such a strong fight to obtain what is properly ours. As far as NLC is concerned, we are in this united, and we must be granted our right," Arapasopo said.
He urged Justice Oyebola Adepele Ojo, the Chief Judge of Osun State, to carry out the state government's authorized promotions for JUSUN members in 2024 and 2025.
He pointed out that Osun workers were left behind while their peers in other states had already received promotions.
In order to reestablish labor peace inside the state's courts, Arapasopo requested Justice Adepele Ojo to take immediate action.
