Twenty-five people have been arrested by the Kano State Hisbah Board for reportedly planning same s3x marriages in the city of Kano's Hotoro neighborhood.
In a statement on Sunday, October 26, 2025, the board's deputy commander, Mujahedeen Aminudeen, announced the suspects' capture.
The suspects, who included seven women and eighteen men, were captured on Saturday at the Fatima Event Centre along the Hotoro bypass in Kano city, according to Aminudeen.

"We received a report today, Saturday, October 25, 2025, that some individuals are allegedly planning same-sex marriages," he stated.
"We successfully arrested 25 people, 18 of whom were men and 7 of whom were women, after our staff stormed the Fatima Event Centre, the location of the unlawful event."

He clarified that the groom and other suspects, who were from Sheka, Yar Gaya, Kofar Nasarawa, and other locations, were taken into custody at the celebration venue.
The Deputy Commander issued a warning, saying the board would not stand by and let bad actors damage Kano State's excellent name and character.
