The New CAS promises swift response, saying, "We will keep insurgents running."

A disciplined and highly responsive Nigerian Air Force (NAF) that can keep insurgents "running without time to think or plan" is what newly appointed Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Vice Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, has promised to lead.

"I use the word lethal in a professional sense… because a man running from you will not have the time to plan to hurt you," AVM Aneke stated during his confirmation before the National Assembly on Wednesday. Training, technology, safety, and strategic innovation are at the core of his leadership philosophy, he stated, adding that "true military power is not measured by brute force but by superior intellect and adaptability."

He pledged to create an Air Force that prioritizes professionalism, accuracy, and purpose while reacting quickly, striking accurately, and operating strategically throughout all military activities.

AVM Aneke officially replaces Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar after being nominated by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu under Section 18(1) of the Armed Forces Act. He presently serves on the Armed Forces Council alongside other Service Chiefs.

Dr. Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, the Minister of Defense, and Senator Basheer Lado, the Special Adviser to the President on Senate Matters, were present at the confirmation hearing. Nigerians were reassured by AVM Aneke that the Air Force under his leadership will be quick, accurate, and wise in its operations, emphasizing growth, safety, and purpose.
