Two friends d?e as Car Plunges into a ditch in Aba.

A tragic accident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at the Osisioma flyover along the Port Harcourt–Aba Expressway in Abia State, leaving two young men dead and one woman missing.

According to eyewitnesses, the victims were driving in a Toyota Camry when the vehicle reportedly lost control and plunged into a water-filled ditch beside the flyover around 1:00 a.m. The impact was severe, trapping the occupants inside.

The deceased, identified by locals as Junior Clifford and Mbika, were confirmed dead at the scene before emergency responders could reach them. A female passenger, whose identity has not yet been released, was said to have gone missing in the waterlogged area, prompting a frantic search by residents and rescue officials.

Officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) later arrived at the scene to recover the bodies and tow the wrecked vehicle away with the help of a crane.

Preliminary reports suggest the crash was caused by overspeeding and loss of control, though investigations are ongoing. Residents around the Osisioma flyover described the spot as a “danger zone,” often poorly lit and riddled with deep drainage ditches that have claimed lives in the past.

Community members have called on the Abia State Government to install more streetlights and safety barriers around the flyover to prevent further tragedies.

The incident has thrown the city of Aba  into mourning, with friends of the victims flooding social media with emotional tributes and renewed calls for safer roads across the state.
