In recognition of the constitutional restrictions on US presidential tenure, U.S. President Donald Trump has ruled out discussions of a third term.
Even though he stated interest in staying in office, Trump remarked on Wednesday that "it's too bad" he is not permitted to seek for a third term due to constitutional realities.

"If you read it, it’s pretty clear," Trump said to reporters on Air Force One between South Korea and Japan. "I am not permitted to run. It's too awful.
The president's remarks were made the day after House Speaker Mike Johnson declared that Trump could not remain in the White House.
He told reporters in the U.S. Capitol on Tuesday, "I don't see the path for that."
Johnson, the Republican leader who has made a career out of getting to know Trump, said he spoke with the president about the matter and believes Trump is aware of the circumstances.

"However, I can assure you that we will not depress the accelerator," he stated. He'll have four excellent years ahead of him, and we're going to deliver for the American people.
