American rapper and business mogul 50 Cent has taken aim at New York politician Zohran Mamdani, warning that his proposed tax policies could drive “big money” out of the city.
The In Da Club hitmaker shared his thoughts on Instagram following Mamdani’s latest win in the New York mayoral polls held on Tuesday, November 4, 2025.
In his post, 50 Cent whose real name is Curtis Jackson uploaded an AI-generated image of a tombstone bearing the words “New York is over,” adding a sharp caption that read:
“New York is over pack it up, let’s go! THE MAN’S first job is Mayor MAMDANI run New York.”
The rapper’s comments come amid rising debates around Mamdani’s progressive economic plans, which reportedly include higher taxes for the city’s wealthiest residents and major corporations.
50 Cent, known for his outspoken takes on politics and business, has frequently criticized policies he believes hurt entrepreneurs and investors. His latest remarks echo his earlier warnings about New York’s “anti-business” climate and his previous suggestions that he might move his operations elsewhere.
Zohran Mamdani, a member of the Democratic Socialist movement, has gained growing support among younger voters for his promises of economic equality and expanded social programs. However, critics including high-profile figures like 50 Cent argue that his tax proposals could scare away investment and wealthy residents, further deepening the city’s financial woes.
50 Cent’s post quickly went viral, sparking a heated debate in the comments section between fans who agreed with his sentiments and those who defended Mamdani’s policies.
