Trump: "We are going to do things to Nigeria that Nigeria will not be happy about if the Nigerian government continues to allow the k?llings of Christians."

In a video broadcast, U.S. President Donald Trump once again threatened military action against Nigeria, directing U.S. defense personnel to prepare backup plans and threatening to cut off all aid if Abuja did not halt what he called the "killing of Christians."

The president stated the following in full in the recorded speech:

"The United States will immediately cease providing aid and assistance to Nigeria if the Nigerian government permits the killing of Christians." Nigeria will not be pleased with the things we are going to do to it. To eradicate Islamic terrorists, guns are firing. I am directing our Department of War to get ready for potential action. It would be swift and brutal if we attacked.

Days ago, Mr. Trump declared Nigeria to be a "country of particular concern" for religious freedom. International observers were alarmed by the language's potential to escalate tensions and undermine diplomatic channels, and Abuja immediately responded diplomatically.

While Nigerian officials vehemently denied the accusation that their government condones the targeted murder of Christians and emphasized that the nation's security issues impact people of various faiths and geographical areas, White House and Pentagon officials confirmed they had been instructed to develop options.
