Nollywood actress Doris Ogala has been released from police custody after spending two days in detention.
DAILY POST reports that the actress was released on Monday, having been arrested on Saturday evening. Her arrest followed a series of social media posts in which she accused a popular Lagos-based cleric, Pastor Chris Okafor, of allegedly deceiving her with a promise of marriage, among other claims.
The development sparked mixed reactions across social media, with many Nigerians expressing concern over her detention. Several online personalities, including popular influencer VeryDarkMan, publicly called for her release.
Confirming her freedom, Doris Ogala took to her Instagram page on Monday afternoon to express appreciation to those who intervened on her behalf.
In a brief post, she thanked human rights activist and politician Omoyele Sowore and VeryDarkMan for their efforts.
