Klint Da Drunk Reveals Why He Quit Music After Hearing 2Face Perform

Popular Nigerian comedian Klint Da Drunk has opened up about the moment that made him abandon his music career and switch fully into comedy.

Speaking in a recent interview with Naija FM Lagos, the comedian revealed that he began as a musician while studying at the Institute of Management Technology (IMT), Enugu. However, everything changed after he watched 2Face Idibia perform at a campus event.

Klint Da Drunk recounted that 2Face, who was also a student at IMT at the time, delivered such an impressive performance that he immediately knew music was not his path.

He said:
“I used to be a musician until 2Face got admitted to my school, IMT. One day when he got on stage to perform at an event on campus, I left the hall. The organisers pleaded with me to stay back and perform when he is done.
“I accepted, but after hearing him sing just two lines, I went home. I didn’t know that my style and 2Face’s style were different. If I had known, I would have continued making music. But thank God I didn’t continue. I like where I am.”

Klint Da Drunk added that he has no regrets about quitting music, noting that comedy has given him fulfilment and success.

Before leaving music, Klint Da Drunk featured on rapper Mr Raw’s hit track ‘Obodo’, and both artists co-founded a music group that finished second at the Star Quest talent show in 2002, losing to KC Presh.

Following his transition, Klint Da Drunk has built a flourishing comedy career and appeared in over a dozen Nollywood films, including ‘Men On The Run’, ‘Madam 10/10’, ‘Fast Cash’, and ‘Lost Kingdom.’
