Popular Nigerian reality star and comedian DeeOne has called on the Federal Government to investigate the financial management of Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) operating in the country.
The entertainer made the call in a video shared on his Instagram page on Wednesday, where he raised concerns over what he described as the unlawful activities of some NGOs.
According to DeeOne, certain non-governmental organizations are allegedly being used as channels to fund terrorism, kidnapping, human trafficking, and other criminal activities across the country.
Appealing directly to the government, he urged authorities to carry out a comprehensive audit of NGO accounts nationwide.
“Federal Government of Nigeria, please investigate all the NGOs’ accounts in the country,” DeeOne said. “A lot of them are being used to sponsor terrorism, kidnappers, child trafficking, and even human harvesting.”
He further criticised what he described as the misuse of humanitarian initiatives for personal gain, noting that some individuals allegedly establish NGOs under the guise of charity but end up amassing wealth unlawfully.
“Please do a thorough investigation of all these NGO accounts. In Nigeria today, if somebody rescues someone, the next thing they do is open an NGO, and suddenly they become multi-millionaires,” he said.
DeeOne clarified that he was not against NGOs making profits, but stressed that such earnings must be legitimate and not achieved at the expense of human lives.
“We’re not saying people should not make money, but it has to be legitimate—not at the expense of people’s lives,” he added.
