Following his May 29 inauguration, President-elect Bola Tinubu swore never to betray the faith that millions of Nigerians have placed in him as the country's leader.
In his acceptance address after receiving the National Honor of Grand Commander of the Federal Republic from President Muhammadu Buhari at the presidential villa in Abuja on Thursday, May 25, 2023, he made the pledge.
He affirmed that he is aware of the significance of the honor conferred upon him and the obligation that goes along with it. "I am aware of the importance of the honor bestowed upon me today and the responsibility at hand.
No less is acceptable for Nigerians. I won't let you down, Buhari, you've set the route, he promised.
Tinubu joins the ranks of 15 other individuals who have received the GCFR Honor, including Nnamdi Azikiwe, Obafemi Awolowo, Shehu Shagari, Olusegun Obasanjo, Abdulsalami Abubakar, Ibrahim Babangida, Ernest Shonekan, Sani Abacha, Umaru Yar'Adua, Goodluck Jonathan, and Moshood Abiola.
