Until the stroke of midnight on May 28, we shall continue to labor and borrow — Min. Fashola.

Babatunde Raji Fashola, the minister of works and housing, defended President Buhari's departing administration against those who criticized it for being active in the final days before the inauguration, reiterating that loans would still be sought and contracts would still be issued.

On May 25, 2023, Fashola made this statement at a gathering in Akure, Ondo State.

The government, in his view, must continue to function right up until the very end of its term. Some still claim that the lack of funding and the demand for infrastructure are the reasons why loans are being taken out with only a few days left before their due dates.

Despite the fact that this administration's term expires at midnight on May 28, 2023, and Bola Tinubu becomes office at that time, some individuals still question why we are still granting contracts a few days before that date. In their defense, they seem to have forgotten that fact.
