During his trial at the Old Bailey, March drastically changed his plea to murder after having previously admitted manslaughter by diminished responsibility.
It has now been revealed that March was just 21 years old when he fatally stabbed 17-year-old Andre Drummond in the neck during an altercation at a McDonald’s restaurant in January 2000. He was convicted of that murder later the same year and jailed for life. After being released on licence in 2013, March was recalled to prison later that year for assaulting another partner before being released again in 2018. He began a relationship with Alana in early 2024, a relationship that quickly became abusive and controlling. Prosecutor Louise Oakley told the court: “She was vulnerable. All she wanted by the time she d?ed was to be loved.”
Having already experienced "huge personal loss" from the deaths of two past companions, Alana told her father that March had served time in prison and was under license. She also disclosed to her family that he had accused her of infidelity, forced her to remove all male contacts from her phone, and sent her threatening voicemails in which he informed her that their unborn child wasn't his and demanded that she get an abortion.
March had "split personality and temper issues," according to a statement from her sister, Jasmine Yates, but Alana was devoted to him and thought he might improve.

March was "acting up," Alana texted her sister on the evening of July 21. Alana said, "You can't control who you love, but he doesn't love any of us," in response to Jasmine's statement, "Oh sis, you deserve so much better x."
Hours later, neighbors saw Alana outside in her dressing robe, crying, and heard yelling. She was discovered profusely bleeding from 19 knife wounds to her arms, thighs, legs, shoulders, stomach, and chest at around three in the morning.

Witnesses heard her scream as she lay dying, "Shaine stabbed me, he stabbed me." Help, help.
March left a voicemail saying, "Mum, I just k?lled a woman, and I'm going back to jail," as he ran from the scene.
Later, drenched in blood, he entered Walthamstow's Creams Café and declared to the employees, "I killed my wife and child."
March allegedly informed police, "I did it," after he was taken into custody. According to Alana Odysseos, I k?lled her. I murdered her, hehe.
Then he said, "Put me where I belong," requesting that officers send him to prison. I'm a jerk. I'm worthy of it.

March maintained his violent behavior while in imprisonment, kicking another prisoner in the head and knocking out three teeth while he was handcuffed.
Prosecutors are asking the judge to issue a whole life order, which would mean he will never be released, and he has been kept in custody until his sentencing on October 31.
During the trial, Alana's distraught family members watched as March yelled and cursed in the dock before entering a guilty plea. Later, they expressed their gratitude to the Metropolitan Police and prosecutors for their efforts to bring about justice.
Jasmine, Alana's sister, called her a "brilliant mother" and a "pure-hearted person" whose life was brutally murdered by a guy she thought she could save.
